Tribute to my cousin, Samantha Blair-Boutelle

SamanthaLaNell Boutelle
1970 ~ 2009

Samantha LaNell Boutelle died on June 27, 2009 at the age of 39. She was born in Farmington, NM on March 30, 1970 to Michael Ray Blair and Doris LaNell Thompson. She was married to Brock Alois Boutelle on August 12, 2005 in Provo, UT.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kiowa Valley 1st Ward Chapel, 3241 Ute Drive, Eagle Mountain, under the direction of Anderson & Sons Mortuary, American Fork. Burial will be in the Memory Garden Cemetery in Farmington, NM, July 3, 1:00 p.m..

Sam was so generous and kind hearted and she loved with a vengeance! It's hard to believe that she won't be at family functions and that I won't get to see her in SLC when I visit! Samantha's husband has been very ill since they dated and she was always so kind and generous and patient with him, she is simply amazing! Her husband Brock needs a kidney transplant and amazingly, she matches as a donor, she has been trying for two years to get him well enough to give her kidney to him! She's finished with all her earthly struggles now and we are better to have known her! Love ya forever Sam!!

It's not really "real" to me that Samantha is dead. She lives on in my memory and in my thoughts. She is every bit as fiesty as my Grannie Blair and I love her for that. I love that Sam hates my exhusband Jim Kern with a vengeance and would call him very colorful and delightful names that made me laugh even in the worst of times. Samantha was so patient and kind with Brock and with Grannie yet she hates Jim wth everything she has!!

Samantha wasn't blessed with children in this life but she loves her nieces and nephews and her family and her dog Max. Tammy (Samantha's big sister) was devastated at having to leave Max in Utah. I volunteered to go get Max because Brock is too ill to care for him. I have a lab and a collie and what is one more dog with all the kids and dogs at my house? So we now have a Basset Hound. He is about the same age as Cappy so all the dogs are "pretty much" through with the chewing up of EVERYTHING in the world and sort of mind. They are all in the same stages so it's not really a problem. Max is shorter than the other two but they are all HUGE dogs so the kitchen is pretty full when the three of them are in there together excited about whatever. The boys really like Max because they can walk him on a leash and he is content to plod along slowly with them (for not very far) and the other dogs strain and want to run so he is their favorite to take for a walk. Ryan really likes Max because he is shorter and doesn't overwhelm him and knock him around like the other two. We are really blessed to have a reminder of Samantha around. We are happy to take care of him but are SURE that we are NOT doing it to her standards and will hear about it later.....

I hope Katie doesn't mind, but I love this photo she took after the graveside service of some of Samantha's shoes (Samantha LOVED shoes!) and her favorite flowers! This photo made me cry because it is SO Sam!

  3. I worked with Sam at Basic Research. I was just trying to locate Sam on Facebook when my google search pulled up this page. Very shocked. She passed right after I stopped working with her. I lost touch as I moved to Montana. She was a very good, friendly person. Very sorry for your family loss...even after all these years.
